Hello! I am Debbie Gair. Some people know me as Debbie Allaben, others know me as mom.
I have been working in the veterinary industry for over 35 years. I started out "filling" exam rooms, cleaning tables and stocking supplies; my dad was the veterinarian. I graduated Michigan State University, with a B.S. in Business Administration. I spent 8 years as the Practice Manager at a small animal practice in SE Michigan. I am a Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM), certified in 1992. I also have the honor of serving as an Editorial Advisor for Firstline magazine.
I started my veterinary management consulting business, Bridging the Gap, in 1996. I specialize in veterinary management coaching and recruiting. I work primarily with the person that is in charge of managing the practice.
We focus on HOW to WORK TOGETHER MORE EFFECTIVELY through understanding and appreciating the differences in people. We work to improve communications, team building, customer service and conflict resolution. This helps to build relatinship with clients, which keeps them coming back to their veterinary practice.
The little people that call me mom are outstanding human beings. They keep me challenged and humbled and grateful. It is important to them that we eat dinner together, get to soccer or dance and go for bike rides. They don't care about what car we drive, what clothes I'm wearing or if the dishes are clean. They greet me with excitement when I pick them up from school, enjoy reading together and eating ice cream. We help each other with sorting socks, speaking kindly and treating each other with respect. They prefer when dad cooks dinner.
